Spatial Consultants Present at the University of Edinburgh

Returning to the Geography Department in Edinburgh, Graham Morgan presented a lecture describing his experiences and observations of the GIS industry to the GIS Update conference of Edinburgh GIS alumni. The conference theme dealt with future directions of GIS and GIS professionals. “It was great to back in Edinburgh again; it is one of the most beautiful and vibrant cities in the UK and the GIS program here has played a defining role in my own career.”

The University of Edinburgh, founded in 1582, is a renowned centre for teaching and research in Edinburgh, Scotland, UK. It was the sixth university to be established in the British Isles, making it one of the ancient universities of Scotland and Britain. The university is amongst the largest and most prestigious in the world and currently ranks in the world top 25, ahead of some of the Ivy League institutions. Spatial Consultants Join Rural Payments Agency

Spatial Consultants have joined the management team of the RPA in Reading to provide management expertise to support the development of the GIS-based farm payments system...

The Rural Payments Agency (RPA) is an executive agency of the British Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (DEFRA). The RPA delivers payments to farmers and traders in excess of £2 billion. The Rural Land Registry is also a part of the RPA, and this department sends land maps to landowners in the United Kingdom. Peter Fox Joins Spatial Consultants as Partner

After much planning we are delighted to announce that Peter Fox has joined Spatial Consultants Ltd as Partner and Director. Peter is a long time colleague of founder Graham Morgan since working together on consulting assignments for the Australian Federal Government in Canberra in the mid 1990s. Spatial Consultants Present at The Open Group’s 18th Enterprise Architecture Practitioners Conference in Glasgow

Graham Morgan presented a paper on Geospatial Service Architectures and the relationship of geospatial services to enterprise-wide IT platforms. The paper provided a definition of GIS in the context of enterprise architecture with illustrations from the Federal Enterprise Architecture Geospatial Profile and presented a model of the provision of collaborative geospatial capabilities for enterprise use.

Spatial Consultants working with TfL Enterprise Architecture Team

Spatial Consultants start working with Transport for London to provide architectural direction for the development of a corporate geospatial data management platform. The new platform will provide access to geospatial capabilities across TfL and will enable data to be shared efficiently and securely across transport modes. Solution architectures will also be developed for a number of business projects (including Legible London pedestrian navigation and bus incident reporting).

SpatialInfo Data Migration Complete

Spatial consultants complete data migration contract for SpatialInfo Inc of Denver Colorado. Demonstrating the convenience of remote service provision this project was conducted directly against the SpatialInfo servers in Denver over an internet VPN connection enabling progress to be made rapidly with regular review and validation by members of the distributed team. Safe Software’s FME data transformation tools and SQLMM were used to extract and transform cable network data from a SpatialNet model in an Oracle Spatial data to produce a series of MapInfo tab files to a custom specification.
