Spatial Consultants win contract to develop Functional Geographies

27th March 2012

Spatial Consultants have recently been awarded a contract with Lincolnshire County Council to develop an application to generate 'functional geographies' based upon recorded travel patterns.

The Functional Geography application will consider several travel 'indicators' such as travel to work, school and shopping in order to identify functional areas based upon the coherence of the interactions between the constituent census output areas. The application will provide a configurable electronic model and will be accessible via the web and GIS client plugins.

The application will improve the ability of the Lincolnshire Research and Information Team to explore and examine the relationships between areas.
